Your Profile Is Your FGC Identity

Your Spaghetti Showdown profile is more than just a username. It is your competitive identity across every tournament, community, and interaction on the platform. Taking a few minutes to set it up properly makes a real difference — organizers can seed you more accurately, opponents can scout your character choices, and your results are tracked under a consistent identity.

Accessing Profile Settings

  1. Click on your avatar in the top-right corner of the navigation bar.
  2. Select Profile Settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. You will see several tabs organizing your profile information. The main ones are covered below.

Profile Settings Tab

The main profile settings tab lets you control the basic information visible on your public profile:

  • Display Name / Nickname — By default this is your Discord username, but you can change it to your tournament tag or gamertag. This is the name that appears on brackets, leaderboards, and your profile page.
  • Bio — A short description about yourself. Share your competitive background, your local scene, or just a fun one-liner.
  • Location — Optionally share your region or city. This helps players find locals and helps organizers understand their participant base.
  • Social Links — Add links to your Twitter/X, Twitch, YouTube, or other social profiles so people can follow your content.

Adding Your Games and Characters

One of the most important parts of your profile is your game and character list. This information is used across the platform:

  1. Navigate to the Games section of your profile settings.
  2. Search for the fighting games you play from the supported game list.
  3. For each game, select the characters you main and any secondaries. You can reorder them to show your primary character first.
  4. Save your changes. Your games and characters now appear on your public profile and are visible to tournament organizers.

Why This Matters

Tournament organizers often use character and game data for seeding, commentary preparation, and stream scheduling. A well-filled profile means commentators can hype up your matches and organizers can avoid same-character mirror matches early in brackets when possible.

Customizing Your Profile Appearance

Spaghetti Showdown lets you personalize how your profile looks using cosmetic items from the Spaghetti Store:

  • Avatar Borders — Decorative frames around your profile picture. Borders range from subtle metallic edges to animated effects. Equip them from your inventory after purchasing.
  • Profile Backgrounds — Change the banner or background image on your profile page. Choose from game-themed artwork, abstract designs, or seasonal limited-edition backgrounds.
  • Profile Cards — Customize the look of your player card that appears in brackets and match results. Different card styles can highlight your stats, character art, or tournament placements.

All cosmetic items are purchased with Spaghetti Points, the platform's virtual currency earned through tournament participation. No real money is required.

Privacy Settings

You have control over what information is visible on your public profile:

  • Profile Visibility — Choose whether your profile is fully public, visible only to logged-in users, or restricted to players you have competed against.
  • Match History — Toggle whether your full match history is visible or just summary statistics.
  • Online Status — Control whether other users can see when you are active on the platform.

By default, profiles are public. Adjusting these settings will not affect your ability to enter tournaments or participate in communities.
